Welcome spring with a hibiscus martini

Welcome spring with a hibiscus martini

The martini that we’ll learn to prepare with Chef Coty requires patience and care to be able to enjoy its delicious flavor as a reward.

What do we need to create this delicious drink?

The ingredients we need to get are:

Hibiscus flowers, vodka, cranberry juice, ice and watch the last ingredient here: video

We’ll also need a martini glass, a shaker, a strainer and jiggers.

Hibiscus (jamaica) flowers will spend a night soaking in vodka and next day with the help of a strainer we’ll extract the liquid.

Prepare the glass before pouring the drink in it

It is important to have the correct temperature in our glass, Chef Coty tells us two tricks to achieve it, one of them is placing the glass in the freezer.

Amounts

It it’s the first time you use a jigger or you don’t know what it is, Chef Coty explains a little more about them: video

With a shaker and a jigger that usually are one ounce or one and a half ounces, the first thing is to measure some of the hibiscus vodka, followed by the cranberry juice, the syrup and at last some ice cubes.

Alternatives and tips

Chef Coty shares with us that the cranberry juice is a drink with antioxidants which makes it a very healthy drink for us. She also shows us how to prepare our own syrup if we could not find it in stores. Do you want to find out how to make it? Watch it here: Video

Another tip that Chef Coty shares is about ice, she recommends using large ones that won’t melt fast or break in the drink.

Double straining ?

A trick when preparing cocktails to prevent ice from falling into the martini glass together with the drink is one shown by Chef Coty here: Video

Finishing decoration before  Cheers !!

To present our martini in an original way, we could use the leftover hibiscus flowers after we macerated some in the vodka. Watch how Chef Coty placed them on the glass.
